The 2019 Yantian District Spring Festival Flower Fair will be open to the public on the section of Haitao Garden, Haijing Road 2, Yantian District from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. between Jan. 31 and Feb. 4, according to a report by the Shenzhen Evening News Jan. 14.
Covering a length of 300 meters, the flower fair will be divided into 78 booths in three sections featuring potted bonsai, potted oranges and flowers as well as Spring Festival supplies such as spring festival couplets and delights.
The Shenzhen Spring Festival Flower Fair will reopen in halls 1 and 6 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4.
This is the first time that the flower market will be held indoors for weather reasons, according to the organizer of the flower fair. Previously, the flower market, a traditional event that spiced up the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, had been held outdoors on Aiguo Road in Luohu District since 1986.
The 2019 city-level Spring Festival flower fair will not only give residents a chance to buy flowers for the Spring Festival but also stage various kinds of flower-related cultural activities, such as a floriculture performance, lectures and traditional Chinese cultural activities like a folk performance, an exhibition of intangible cultural heritage and musical flash mobs, to celebrate the Spring Festival, according to the organizer.
The organizer will designate a special space for a charity bazaar, where artworks using parts of trees felled by Typhoon Mangkhut will be exhibited, and educational sites to encourage flower recycling through garbage classification.
The opening hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. between Jan. 31 and Feb. 3 and from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Feb. 4.
